Meeting Sensory Needs (3 hours)

Course Overview

Sensory processing differences are often a misunderstood or under-supported facet of autism, yet research shows us that well over 90% of people on the autism spectrum experience them, frequently resulting in discomfort, distress, overload or behavioural problems.

This course examines the nature of sensory processing in humans and how this may differ in people on the autism spectrum.  Our trainer will examine the four key sensory types and how these may affect daily life as well as looking at how to identify someone’s basic sensory profile and how to make environmental adaptations.

Our experienced trainer has nearly 20 years’ experience working as a specialist in the field of autism and behaviours of concern and uses a combination of short talks, video, workshop activities and group discussion to suit a range of learning styles and will happily welcome questions and offer supportive strategies throughout the course.
